On February 14, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said that Serbia is an independent country, so it will not impose sanctions against Russia and will build a section of the Turkish Stream pipeline via its territory.
“Serbia is an independent, sovereign and free country and is on the European path of development today, but we can say to all European partners and to Washington that we will not impose sanctions against Russian Federation. Serbia will also build part of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline via its territory. And we are not ashamed of it, we are proud of it,” Vučić said.
The Serbian leader also reminded that Belgrade is building strong relations with Beijing, TASS reports.
In addition, the President called for maintaining peace and stability in the region, stressing that the Serbs do not need war.
It should be noted that on January 17, during the visit of Vladimir Putin to Belgrade, was signed an agreement on energy cooperation. In particular, the issue of Turkish Stream extending to Serbia was discussed.
As The Journalist reported, 55th Munich Security Conference starts on Friday.
