Ecumenical Patriarchate will discuss the issue of of Ukraine’s Tomos after exarchs’ report

Discussion of the issue of tomos on the provision of autocephaly to Ukraine will take place only after the report of the exarchs of the Ecumenical Patriarch in Istanbul.

This was reported by the representative of the Kyiv Patriarchate, Archbishop Evstratiy (Zoria) on Facebook.

According to Archbishop Yevstratiy, on October 9, the exarchs of the Ecumenical Patriarch departed from Kyiv to Istanbul, where they will report today on October 10.

Also, the Kyiv Patriarchate rep recalled the way of receiving Tomos.

The first step is the decision of the Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate to grant Tomos about autocephaly.

Then, on the basis of this decision, the convocation and holding in Kyiv of a Sobor with the participation of the hierarchs of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, the Kyiv Patriarchate (UOC-KP), the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church, and the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP) requested the Ecumenical Patriarch giving tomos.

«The Sobor will carry out the church association, forming a single local UOC, and will elect its head (we will nominate and support Patriarch Filaret),» – Archbishop Yevstratii said.

The third stage is the receipt Tomos as a document (certificate) by the Head of the united local autocephalous UOC.

As The Journalist reported, the Synod which can decide the fate of the Ukrainian autocephaly is taking place in Istanbul.
