The United States expressed support for Turkey, whose military, deployed in northwestern Syria, are being attacked by the Assad regime’s army with the support of Russian aviation. This was stated by U.S. Ambassador to NATO Kay Bailey Hutchison at a press conference in Washington, Ukrinform reports.

In recent days, Assad’s regime forces, with the support of Russian aviation, have been actively attacking areas in northwestern Syria where Turkish troops are been deployed.

Against the background of the situation in Syria, Hutchison recalled that Turkey is an ally of the United States. In addition, the U.S. is concerned about the attacks by the Syrian regime on civilians in Idlib.

“This will lead to a refugee crisis, because these people have nowhere to go, and they will try to move to Turkey,” the diplomat said.

Meanwhile, the UN called for an immediate ceasefire in Syria, where 33 Turkish soldiers died as a result of an air raid.

As The Journalist reported, Assad regime forces strike on Idlib.
