World-famous 85-year-old opera singer Montserrat Caballe died at a clinic in Barcelona.
It is noted that Caballe has suffered from gall bladder problems for many years. Funeral will be held on Monday, October 8, writes Obozrevatel.
Recall that fame came to the singer in 1965, when she replaced the ill American opera star Marilyn Horn and sang the part of Lucretia Borgia in eponymous opera of Gaetano Donizetti.
Montserrat Caballe became famous for her roles in classic Italian operas by Rossini, Bellini and Donizetti, as well as the virtuoso bel canto technique.
