U.S. allies in NATO intend to increase defense funding to USD 100 billion by the end of 2020, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said, DW reports.

In 2016, defense expenditures of NATO member countries in Europe amounted to almost USD 238 billion. NATO member countries, except for the United States, intend to allocate an additional USD 100 billion to defense by the end of next year. Thus, by 2024, additional defense spending Block members countries will grow to USD 350 billion.
U.S. President Donald Trump constantly demands that other NATO member countries increase defense spending to two percent of GDP, as decisions taken at the 2014 NATO Summit in Wales suggest.
