UN Security Council will hold emergency meeting on Venezuela

The United States has initiated the UN Security Council meeting on Venezuela. It will be held on Saturday, January 26th. This was reported by the United States Permanent Mission to the United Nations on Twitter.
The information was confirmed by the South Africa’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Jerry Matjila.
“Well, we are consulting. There is an idea that we have a Security Council meeting Saturday morning, because US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo wants to come and address SC around 9 in the morning on Saturday. As to whether Venezuela is threat to peace and security – we’ll listen to what Pompeo might have to say,” the message says.
Recall, on January 23 in the count Venezuela began mass protests against Maduro. Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido declared himself as the president of the country. The National Assembly, in turn, declared Guaido as the Acting President of the country. A number of world countries have recognized Guaido.
As The Journalist reported, United States, Canada recognized Guaido as Venezuela’s president.
