The United States plans to impose a 25% duty instead of the previously announced 10% on an additional list of imported Chinese goods worth USD 200 billion. This is reported by Reuters.

«Tariffs will not be imposed until officials comments, but introducing a 25 percent duty could lead to an aggravation of the trade dispute between the two largest economies of the world,» – the report said.

It is noted that to the list of items that fall under duties were included food, chemicals, steel and aluminum, as well as consumer goods: from dog food, furniture and carpets to car tires, bicycles, baseball gloves and cosmetics.

Recall, that US President Donald Trump accused Beijing of stealing intellectual property and technology. In response, China promised to respond symmetrically to new US duties.

As The Journalist reported earlier, Mexico intends to introduce duties on goods from the United States.
