The United States has decided to cancel permit on oil import from Iran, which was previously granted to eight countries. This was reported by Bloomberg, citing the US Special Envoy for Iran Brian Hook.

“The US sanctions have reduced Iran’s oil exports from 2.7 million barrels per day to 1 million. The United States will no longer extend the permit to import Iranian oil for a period of six months to 8 countries,” the report said.

It is noted that among eight countries-recipients of the right to buy Iran’s oil, only five have taken advantage of this opportunity.
Recall that Iran and international mediators agreed on the country’s nuclear program in July 2015. In exchange for abandoning it, the world community agreed to suspend the multi-year sanctions regime.
On May 8, 2018, US President Donald Trump said that America is withdrawing from the agreement on the Iranian nuclear program and is restoring sanctions against Iran in order to ensure that the Islamic Republic does not have a way to build nuclear weapons. At the same time, Washington threatened that it would sanction all countries and companies that would not refuse to import Iranian oil. The USA made exceptions for China, India, Greece, South Korea, Japan, Turkey, Taiwan and Italy.
Sanctions against Iran entered into force on October 5, 2018.
