State budget allocates UAH 4.5 billion for supporting Carpathians infrastructure

The Ministry of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine reported that in total UAH 4.5 billion were allocated from the state budget in 2019 for support the infrastructure of four oblasts of the Carpathian region – Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Chernivtsi and Zakarpattia.

In particular, the State Regional Development Fund received UAH 1.171 billion, almost UAH 250 million of subvention of the united territorial communities, over UAH 1.5 billion for road infrastructure and UAH 1.4 billion for rural medicine, the report said.

“Today, thanks to the state support, these oblasts have all the opportunities to develop not only projects that are being formed at the regional level, but also those that respond directly to the state regional strategy,” the press service of the Vice Prime Minister – Minister of Regional Development and Construction and Housing and Communal Services, Hennadiy Zubko, said.

The report notes that the cross-border cooperation is another tool in development of mountain areas. Two programs have already been approved: the EU Strategy for the Carpathian Region, which provides for the implementation of a coordinated policy and implementation of joint activities to develop the region, as well as the EU Strategy for the Danube Region and the Danube Transnational Program, for which EUR 5 million has been allocated
