The Shevchenkivsky District Court of Kyiv has extended until September 8 the term of the detention of a suspect in the preparing for a terrorist attack and planning a coup and seizing power, the head of the Officers Corps organization Volodymyr Ruban.
Prosecutors asked to extend the measure of restraint for 60 days, but the court ruled to limit Ruban’s stay in custody until September 8, UNIAN inform agency reported.
The court did not disclose the reasoning part of its decision, however, as Ruban’s lawyer Valentyn Rybin has explained, the judge made such a decision on the grounds that on September 8 the term of the pre-trial investigation in the Ruban-Savchenko case expires and he could not go beyond these limits.
In addition, Rybin said that he and his client will have time to complete familiarization with the case materials by this date. The lawyer added that another suspect in this case – People’s Deputy of Ukraine Nadia Savchenko and her defenders have only read one of more than 20 volumes of criminal proceedings.
As The Journalist reported, pre-trial investigation in the Savchenko-Ruban case has been completed.
