The New York Times journalist Rory Smith wrote an article in which he claims fans can fly to Kiev for the Champions League final through occupied Donetsk.

The article notes that regular flights into Borispol, Kiev’s international airport, are fully booked and fans are forced to go to Kiev via Minsk or Donetsk. It is interesting that The New York Times described the situation in Donbas as sporadic combats between the Ukrainian army and the pro-Russian separatists,- reported the Tyzhden.

«Fans, of course, try to find a way: some are flying in through Minsk, in Belarus, and then traveling overland, or even coming through Donetsk, in the east of Ukraine, in territory still afflicted by sporadic fighting between the Ukrainian army and pro-Russian separatist», – the NYT article stated.

Twitter users showed to the journalist how exactly Donetsk airport looks today. The author of the article replied he have heard «one group tried to travel in this way».

As «The Journalist» earlier reported, RF made the east of Ukraine the most dangerous place for Russian speakers in the world.
