The President of the United States Donald Trump increasingly asking advices from his assistants on the possibility of a meeting with the North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un. This was reported by The New York Times.
According to the source, Trump’s scheduled meeting with Kim Jong-Un could turn into a political embarrassment. The Head of the White House was both surprised and angered by a statement issued by the North Korean chief to reject the summit with the US.
On May 17 and 18, Mr. Trump consulted with his advisors and called the President of South Korea, Moon Jae-in, to ask him why the North’s Korea latest statements seemed to contradict the private assurances.
It is noted that Trump’s aides have grown concerned about the president’s obsessive behavior and believe that Kim Jong-Un, sensing the president’s eagerness, is prepared to give assurances that may be violated.
Also, the US decision to withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal is not useful for the American side, since consultations with the North Korea will not succeed if Trump eventually fails to reach serious agreements, similar to agreements which Barack Obama reached in the negotiations on a Tehran nuclear program in 2015.
However, there is no reason to think Mr Trump intends to abandon negotiations with Pyongyang, the sources said.
As «The Journalist» earlier reported, US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un will meet in Singapore.
