The Romanian company Transgaz has begun work on the construction of the Ungheni-Chisinau natural gas pipeline, which will connect Moldova and Romania gas transmission systems, Ukrinform reports.
“The construction of the gas pipeline meets the national interests of Moldova and will contribute to the economic development of the country. Thanks to this project, we will have an alternative source of supply of natural gas, which will significantly enhance energy security,” said Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, Chiril Gaburici.
Along with other positive moments, the pipeline construction will provide an opportunity to supply gas to consumers at a lower price.
The gas pipeline will expand the previously constructed Moldovan-Romanian Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline. The length of the gas pipe is just over 100 kilometers, and the total cost of the project is estimated at about EUR 120 million. The pipeline capacity is more than 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
The completion of the gas pipeline construction is expected by the end of 2019 – early 2020.
As The Journalist reported, China began the implementation of a megaproject for the construction of "forest cities" for USD 19.4 trillion.
