Trump named new Pentagon’s acting head

In the United States of America the Secretary of the Army Mark Esper will become a new acting Pentagon chief. This was announced by American President Donald Trump in his Twitter account.

“Acting Secretary of Defense Patrick Shanahan, who has done a wonderful job, has decided not to go forward with his confirmation process so that he can devote more time to his family.I thank Pat for his outstanding service and will be naming Secretary of the Army, Mark Esper, to be the new Acting Secretary of Defense. I know Mark, and have no doubt he will do a fantastic job!” the statement said.

Since November 20, 2017 Esper holds the position of Minister of the US Army. Prior to that, he worked at one of Pentagon’s largest contractors, Raytheon.

Trump thanked Shanahan for the service, who had served as the US Defense Secretary since January 2019 after the resignation of James Mattis.

Earlier, The Journalist reported that Pentagon sent 35 Hummer combat vehicles to Ukraine.
