The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC), Oleksandr Turchynov and the Metropolitan Epiphanius of Kyiv and all Ukraine have discussed the provisions of the draft law on military chaplains.
This was reported by the NSDC’s press service.
“During the meeting, the interlocutors discussed the importance of Capellan service for strengthening the spiritual and patriotic foundations of the Ukrainian army. Particular attention was paid to the need of adopting the law of Ukraine “On Military Chaplains” consideration of which should begin in the next plenary week, and discussed its main provisions,” said in a statement.
According to the Secretary of the NSDC and the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU), the activities of military chaplains should be regulated at the legislative level in order to ensure their service conditions and social guarantees.
According to Turchinov, the OCU “is doing a lot to maintain the spirit of our fighters on the front lines.”
In turn, Metropolitan Epiphanius stressed that “the Ukrainian church and the army will stay united in countering aggression against Ukraine.”
As The Journalist reported, Metropolitan Epiphanius met with Zelensky at the Mikhailovsky Monastery.
