Law enforcement officers have confiscated two tons of cocaine hydrochloride (‘cocaine salt’) in Latvia, which is used to manufacture the drug. The value of the seized stuff is about one billion euros, Delfi reports.

The seized party is record for the Baltic countries. The operation on seizing the batch of drugs was conducted on January 8, 2019 in the Koknese region. Cocaine arrived from Ecuador and was hidden in banana boxes. The police seized 2,199 briquettes with logos of well-known companies-importers of tropical fruits.
It was established that the drug traffickers have used Latvia as a transit state. Cocaine was usually shipped from Latvia either to Scandinavia or to Russia.
Law enforcement officers detained five Latvian citizens.
According to preliminary estimates, the cost of the cargo is about EUR 65 million.
As The Journalist reported, a man offered to buy a grenade to passersby near Kherson.
