Professor of International Criminal Law, Geert-Jan Alexander Knoops, commented on Russia’s refusal to interrogate her citizens on the MH17 catastrophe, Ukrinform reports.

In particular, he noted that within the limits of sovereignty, the Russian Federation has the right to decide whether to interrogate its citizens or not.

“Despite the Security Council’s adopted Resolution binding states to cooperate in investigating of the MH17 disaster, it is the Russian Federation right to decide whether to interrogate her citizens,” said Knoops.

Recall that in November 2018, the relatives of 55 MH17 victims filed a lawsuit against the European Court of Human Rights against Russia.
