The United States has announced the imposition of sanctions against eighteen large banking institutions that service the regime’s financial transactions in Iran. This was reported by the U.S. Treasury Department.
“The finance minister, after consulting with the secretary of state, has imposed sanctions against the financial sector of the Iranian economy,” the statement reads.
Sanctions slams on eighteen major banks in Iran. This list includes sixteen institutions – for activities in the sector of public financial settlements in Iran; one bank – for owning or controlling an institution that was already under U.S. sanctions; another bank – for communication with the Iranian military.
At the same time, the United States did not impose restrictions on humanitarian operations aimed at supporting the Iranian people.
