According to U.S. intelligence report provided to the White House, the official data by Chinese authorities on the number of infected and deceased during the coronavirus epidemic were falsified, Bloomberg reports.

However, the publication did not provide any additional information about the report.

The Chinese authorities reported 82,000 infection cases and 3,300 deaths during the epidemic, which according to official Beijing, began in Wuhan in late December last year.

On the eve of April 1, US Vice President Mike Pence in an interview with CNN said that the Chinese authorities were hiding data on a massive disease.

“The reality is that we could have been better off if China had been more forthcoming. What appears evident now is that long before the world learned in December that China was dealing with this, and maybe as much as a month earlier than that, that the outbreak was real in China,” Pence said.

However, according to US President Donald Trump, he did not receive an intelligence report, but “the data provided by Beijing looks incomplete.”

To Bloomberg, the real picture of the epidemic in China is important for modeling the spread of coronavirus in the world and evaluating the effectiveness of control measures.

The immunologist Deborah Birks, an adviser to the Trump administration on the coronavirus problem, has said that information provided by Beijing influenced the conclusions and actions of various governments.

Crematoria in Wuhan have unusually large number of urns for burial. Queues of relatives waiting to receive the ashes may indicate a higher mortality rate as a result of the epidemic. According to some estimates, the number of deaths may exceed 40,000. The official number of deaths in Wuhan is 2,500.

As The Journalist reported, Number of coronavirus cases increased by more than 77,000 people.
