President Donald Trump proposes to provide at least USD 250 million in military assistance to Ukraine in the draft US budget for next fiscal year 2021, in particular for the acquisition of Javelin anti-tank missiles. This was stated by US Deputy Secretary of Defense John Rood, Defense News reports.
“Assuming of course the Congress approves draft budget and makes provisions, we will continue that. We do envision further provision of lethal aid to Ukraine,” Rood said.
Such a statement was quite unusual so far ahead of the budget request’s formal presentation, typically made in February-March.
At the same time, Rood said that the USD 250 million that the US allocated for Ukraine this year has already been provided in almost full amount, with the exception of the USD 8.5 million to be allocated later.
As The Journalist reported, U.S. Congress adopted resolution against Russia’s return to G7.
