The Senate approved such a legislative act after the House of Representatives on the eve passed the US defense budget bill, which provides for sanctions against the Nord Stream 2 Russian gas pipelines and Turkish Stream. Both versions of the draft law must be agreed upon and sent for signature to the head of the White House, Ukrinform reports.
The legislative act that forms the country’s defense budget for the 2021 fiscal year was backed by overwhelming majority of 86 representatives of upper chamber of the US Congress with only 14 voted against.
One of the amendments, adopted first in the House of Representatives and then in the Senate, provides for the introduction of sanctions against companies involved in the construction of above two Russian gas pipelines.
