On January 21-25, the winter session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe takes place in Strasbourg. Some 45 delegations applied for confirmation of credentials at the meeting, Ukrinform reports.

Out of 47 delegations did not submit applications the Russia (due to the sanctions imposed on it) and the Bosnia and Herzegovina (due to the internal political situation in the country).
During the January session PACE will discuss on the situation in Ukraine. In particular, on Tuesday, January 22, the Ukrainian delegation to the PACE will hold hearings related to the issue of the unlawful actions of the Russian occupation authorities in Crimea. On Wednesday, January 23, the head of the Ukrainian delegation to the PACE, Volodymyr Ariyev, within the framework of a special event, will once again remind the international community about Ukrainian political hostages of Russia. And on January 24, according to an urgent procedure, debates are scheduled on the topic: "Open Russian aggression against Ukraine: disruption of the peace process and the threat to European security."
Among other issues, the Assembly will hold debates and vote on resolutions on the role of public media in the context of misinformation and propaganda, as well as media freedom to ensure democratic elections. The debate will also be devoted to countering the avoidance of impunity by individuals who are subject to personal sanctions on the so-called ‘Magnitsky list’.
