Scientists said in the bowels of the planet Earth there are huge reserves of diamonds. After conducting studies using sound waves, experts believe that the total weight of the crystals distributed in the earth’s crust of this mineral is estimated 1 pentone.
«We cannot get them (deposits of diamonds – ed.) as they are at a depth of 145-241 km under the ground, but it’s still surprising to find out that there are much more there than was previously thought», the researchers say League.
Researchers found that sound waves pass through areas of the earth’s crust where valuable minerals are located, much faster than other layers. Comparing the recorded «in the fields» the speed of waves with the speed of sound through various substances in the laboratory, scientists came to the conclusion that such indicators correspond to the soil with 1-2% diamond content.
These diamonds are in the so-called cratons – ancient platforms of the Precambrian age. Cratons look like inverted mountains, lie in the centers of tectonic platforms and can penetrate to a depth of more than 300 km. The «roots» of such formations, scientists suppose, and contain those same diamonds.
As «Journalist» reported the scientists found diamonds from the planetary embryo in the debris of the meteorite.
