UEFA ex-president released from custody

The former president of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), Michel Platini, taken into custody in France the day before, was released after 14- hour interrogation. This is reported by AFP.

Platini was released after testifying about the corruption case during the selection of the host country of the 2022 World Cup. In 2010, Qatar was chosen to host the 2022 World Cup. The football functionaries from different countries accused the Qatar representatives of bribing votes in favor of their application.

The investigation is ongoing.
