Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi has said Tehran agrees to pay compensation in connection with the Ukrainian passenger plane crash in January 2020, IRNA reports.

According to him, the implementation of this issue “will take time and has various aspects from a technical and legal point of view.” Mousavi also stressed that negotiations on payments for the killed Ukrainians will continue.

The Iranian diplomat also added that the Islamic Republic of Iran had claimed responsibility for the tragedy and called the shooting down of the Ukrainian plane “an unintentional act.”

Recall that on July 12, the Iranian Civil Aviation Organization published a report on the investigation of the crash of the Ukrainian Boeing. It said that the air defense complex (air defense) shot down the liner by mistake: it was redeployed shortly before the incident, but its data was not reconfigured due to human error. This allegedly led to a data error when the aircraft was detected.

To the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, negotiations between Afghanistan, Britain, Canada, Sweden and Ukraine with representatives of Iran on the UIA plane crash near Tehran ended in Kyiv. The parties discussed compensation for the families of the victims of the downed PS752 flight.

During the meeting, the members of the Coordination Group once again called on Iran to make full compensation for the destruction of the Ukrainian aircraft and conduct a full, transparent and independent investigation of the tragedy in accordance with international standards, RBC-Ukraine reports.

“Iran shall ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice and justice is established for the families of those affected by this terrible tragedy,” the Coordination Group said in a statement.
