Ukraine and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) are launching a new cooperation strategy, envisaging the implementation of long-term and financially large projects at the level of the private sector and at the level of government.
According to the Governmental press service, the relevant agreements were reached during the meeting between Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman and EBRD Vice President Alain Pilloux.
According to the Prime Minister, the current volume of existing cooperation between Ukraine and the Bank is not in line with Ukraine’s potential, so he expects them to increase.
«I think next year we will be able to increase the portfolio of projects,» the Cabinet press service quotes PM Groysman as saying.
According to the report, the EBRD is planning to sign a number of practical arrangements with PJSC Ukrzaliznytsia and Ukrainian State Air Traffic Services Enterprise (Ukraerorukh) by the end of this year.
According to Alain Pilloux, the Bank is very interested in alternative energy projects, development of state-owned banks. That is why the legislative initiatives concerning the law on alternative energy, state banks, concessions and the activities of the business ombudsman are highly anticipated.
«Probably, we have no other partner countries similar to Ukraine. We have approved a new strategy of activities with Ukraine and one of the core areas is activating and increasing our activities in the private and public sectors,» the Governmental press service quoted the EBRD Vice President as saying.
As The Journalist reported, the EBRD has appointed new managing director for Ukraine.
