Ukraine, Kazakhstan sign agreement on extradition, legal assistance in criminal matters

Ukraine and the Republic of Kazakhstan have signed the Extradition Treaty and the Agreement on Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters, the Minister of Justice of Ukraine Pavlo Petrenko reported on Facebook.

«We signed two important documents that will allow our law enforcement agencies to cooperate more effectively and ensure the enforcement of court decisions: the Agreement on extradition and the Agreement on legal assistance in criminal matters between Ukraine and the Republic of Kazakhstan,» said Petrenko.

According to the minister, this happened at a meeting with the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kairat Kozhamzharov during Petrenko’s visit to Kazakhstan.

«I’ve been working in Kazakhstan throughout the last days of October. The visit began with a meeting with Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kairat Kozhamzharov. We have discussed a wide range of issues on reforming the prosecutor’s office and the penitentiary system and the launch and activities of anti-corruption bodies,» said Petrenko.
