Ukraine and Romania agreed to launch a train between the Chernivtsi and the Romanian city of Suceava from the beginning of 2019, as well as the expansion of opportunities for road transport.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine citing the results of negotiations between Deputy Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine for European integration Viktor Dovgan and the Secretary of The Ministry of Transport of Romania Maria Magdalena Grigore.

«Concerning railway passenger transportation, the parties agreed on the introduction of two pairs of trains (4 trains) from January 1, 2019, which will provide a connection between Suceava (Romania) and Chernivtsi (Ukraine), with a transfer at the Vadul-Siret station», – the report said.

According to the press service, the parties agreed on the need to organize piggyback transportation (piggyback transportation is the combination of rail and road transport to deliver cargo to the destination. In piggyback transportation loaded cars transported on the railway flat wagons, and an additional wagon is provided for drivers) in the territories of Ukraine and Romania and to further develop it.

«As for road road transport, the parties agreed to increase the total quota of permits for international road transport for 2018-2019. In the near future, Ukrainian carriers will additionally receive 4,500 transit and 1,000 bilateral permits», – the message reported.

As «The Journalist» reported, a ferry route will be launched running between Ukraine and Romania in September.
