Ukraine will not participate for the first time in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, the official website UA.Pershiy says.

«The National Public Television and Radio Company of Ukraine as a member of the European Broadcasting Union annually ensures the participation of Ukraine in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, but this year due to the critical underfunding of the public broadcaster the representative from Ukraine will not be able to take part in the international song contest. Participation in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest provides significant expenses for the TV and radio company for the qualifying stage, as well as a mandatory contribution to the European Broadcasting Union, the organizer of the competition, for participating in the competition. This year NPTCU for the first time does not have the financial ability to realize the costs for the production of selection rounds, pay a fee and make all mandatory payments», the report said.

Reference. The Junior Eurovision Song Contest is an annual international competition for children under the age of 15, in which one representative from each of the member countries of the European Broadcasting Union takes part. In November 2018, the competition will be held in Minsk. Ukraine has been participating in the competition since 2006.

As the «Journalist» reported, the winning song of Eurovision Netta Barzilay was plagiarized for the song «Seven Nation Army» of the band White Stripes.
