Ukraine has applied to the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) to force Russia to release captive Ukrainian sailors and captured ships, Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Olena Zerkal said, according to the Ukrainian National News.

According to the diplomat, the filed request is only a visible part of the diplomatic and legal work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, which has been going on since Russia captured Ukrainian sailors.

Also, the deputy minister added that the new trial under Article 290 of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea would provide a quick decision from the Tribunal for the Law of the Sea in Hamburg.

As The Journalist reported, Pentagon sent 35 Hummer combat vehicles to Ukraine.
