Ukraine climbed four positions in the Human Freedom Index 2020 and now ranks 110th. This is stated on the website of the American non-political research organization Cato Institute.
The index shows 10 as the greatest freedom on the 0 to 10 scale. It includes 162 countries. The top three are New Zealand (8.87), Switzerland (8.82) and Hong Kong (8.74).
Ukraine is now in 110th place with an index of 6.45.
The index itself is based on 12 indicators:
- the rule of law;
- safety and security;
- freedom of movement;
- freedom of religion;
- development of civil society;
- freedom of expression and information;
- identity and relationships;
- size of government bodies;
- legal system and property rights;
- access to a stable currency;
- freedom of trade at the international level;
- regulation of credit, labor and business.
