Ukraine was included in the list of the European Commission (EC) monitoring counterfeiting and piracy. It lists websites and physical markets outside the EU that engage in, promote or use fraud and piracy. The document was published on the EC website.

This is the second Counterfeiting and Piracy Watchlist, which includes websites and physical markets outside the EU that engage in, promote, or exploit counterfeiting and piracy.

The EC highlighted that such activities undermine the intellectual property rights of EU companies and creators, harm EU businesses and jobs, and threaten the health and safety of consumers.

There are four directions on the list:

  • websites that offer copyrighted content,
  • e-commerce platforms,
  • online pharmacies,
  • physical markets.

Ukraine is featured in several sections of the document due to the Seasonvar.ru streaming website, Rezka.ag website, and Bookfi.net website. The European Commission’s List also includes Ukrainian online trading platforms Prom.ua and Bigl.ua and four Ukrainian markets – Troeshina in Kyiv, 7th kilometer in Odesa, Barabashovo in Kharkiv and Khmelnitsky clothing market.
