The Director of the Operator of the Ukrainian GTS company Serhii Makogon said that gas imports to Ukraine reached 66.3 million cubic meters, which equals to 100% technical capacity.
“This day came! Gas imports reached 66.3 million cubic meters, which mean 100% load of technical capacity. A significant event,” Makogon stressed.
The director of the company also stressed that, unfortunately, Ukraine cannot use its entire infrastructure at the border yet, since most of it is still controlled by Gazprom, which refuses to bring the rules to European standards.
“I am sure that starting from January 1, 2020, this problem will cease to exist along with the old transit contract, and we will start working on all GMS [gas metering station – ed.] at the border in accordance to the European rules,” Makogon said.
According to the director of the company, “if we had working European rules now, then we could import 366 million cubic meters: 66 – physically and another 300 – virtually by replacing transit volumes.”
