Ukraine intends to appeal to the European Commission over Poland’s violation of a transportation quota for Ukrainian road transport. This was announced by Minister Volodymyr Omelyan, Ukrinform reports.
Omelyan noted that he hopes to reach an agreement on this issue during the scheduled meeting of the President of Ukraine with the President of Poland in early September.
“If this does not work, we are ready to appeal to the European Commission, since by such unilateral actions the Polish side violates the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union,” Omelyan said.
He recalled that the Poland has significantly reduced the number of bilateral permits for transporting Ukrainian goods to/through Poland. According to him, last year there were 260,000 contracts, and this year only 160,000.
