Ukraine, Portugal agree to develop trade and investment

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba hold phone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Portuguese Republic, Augusto Santos Silva.

The parties paid special attention to strengthening bilateral investment cooperation and trade.

“We are set to provide maximum assistance Ukrainian and Portuguese companies to establish ties, sign mutually beneficial contracts,” the Ukrainian Foreign Minister emphasized.

In his turn, Santos Silva expressed full support for efforts to develop investment and trade between the two countries and invited Dmytro Kuleba to pay a visit to Portugal as soon as the restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic are lifted.

The Portuguese Foreign Minister assured of his country’s further support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty within its internationally recognized borders, and the continuation of EU sanctions against Russia.

Kuleba expressed gratitude for the clear position of Lisbon and expressed hope for further fruitful cooperation between the two countries in the UN, Portugal’s support for Ukraine in the EU and NATO. Augustus Santos Silva assured that Ukraine can count on such support from Portugal.

The Foreign Minister of Ukraine expressed hope for a full and impartial investigation into the circumstances of the death of a citizen of Ukraine in March 2020 at the Lisbon airport and the prosecution of those responsible for his death.

“The Portuguese colleague assured the allegiance of the Portuguese authorities to a complete and impartial investigation into the tragedy and to bringing those responsible to justice,” the statement reads.
