Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine Kyrylo Tymoshenko in an interview with Ukrainska Pravda has said that one flight to China to deliver medical supplies needed to counter COVID-19 spread costs USD 150,000 – USD 180,000 to state budget.
According to Tymoshenko, the first Ukrainian plane dispatched to China for medicine was the Il-76 military cargo. At that time, were paid only gas stations and parking, that is, handling services.
“It usually costs USD 250,000 – USD 300,000,” Tymoshenko said.
Such a flight was expensive in terms of fuel costs for Ilyushin aircraft, so the rest of the flights are operated by commercial aircraft.
“Another two flights were operated by SCAT Airlines – Kazakhs provided us with Boeing 767. And now we turned to the SkyUp airline for services,” Tymoshenko emphasized.
SkyUp representatives offered their help. UIA also plans to fly to China for medical supplies.
“SkyUp representatives turned to us claiming they have no flights and their planes sit idle. They propose to retool the planes, remove the passenger seats in order to carry out cargo flights. They set the price much lower than our previous costs, and now we are flying with SkyUp. We also negotiating with UIA on the same matter,” Tymoshenko added.
According to him, respirators, protective suits and PCR tests also are delivering from China to Ukraine.
