The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine plans to introduce at the state level monitoring of tariffs for thermal energy, which were approved by local governments.
Local tariffs can reach several hundred hryvnia per square m., which leads to the payment of subsidies in the amount of more than UAH 20,000 for one household.
This was reported by the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine, UNIAN informs.
As the department explained, the size of the assigned subsidy depends on the size of the established prices and tariffs for services, in particular, the tariffs of heat suppliers for National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission (NEURC) licensees are set by the regulator itself, but much of the local government is authorized to approve them independently.
“It should be noted that not in all cases [tariff approval] is carried out properly, there are facts of assigning subsidies in extremely large amounts, more than UAH 20,000, but the phenomenon is not widespread,” the ministry informs.
The ministry recalled that “today the size of the mandatory part of the payment for services for each family is determined individually by the general formula and depends solely on the size of the average monthly household income per person.”
As The Journalist reported, Ukrainians will not be deprived of subsidies for debts due to the additional charge of regional gas companies.
