Among the main tasks for 2020, the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine identified the approval of a new program of cooperation with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), as well as the creation of the Office of Financial Control (OFC) and the Bureau of Financial Investigations (BFI).

This is stated by the Ministry of Finance regarding the end of the 2019 fiscal year.

“We will complete the establishment of new Customs and Tax Services, create a powerful Office of Financial Control, an effective Bureau of Financial Investigations and a professional Debt Collection Agency. Together with colleagues from the government, the Office of the President, the National Bank and Parliament, we will complete preparations for the consideration [by the IMF Council] of a new three-year program and continue negotiations with official partners to obtain new preferential lending tools from the World Bank, the European Union and other concession lenders,” the commentary says.

Ukraine and the IMF reached an agreement on a new three-year program of USD 5.5 billion expanded financing. The decision on the new program should be approved by the Board of Directors of the Fund.

Markarova: In 3 years, Ukraine’s economy will be strong enough to be independent from IMF.
