Ukraine’s Kuleba: Ukraine insists on returning black boxes of downed UIA plane, payment of compensation

Foreign Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba during phone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarifi, and insisted on the return of the black boxes from the Ukrainian plane shot down in Tehran, as well as on payment of compensation to the families and friends of the victims of the plane crash. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Kuleba noted that Ukraine set to continue the dialogue aimed to clarify all the circumstances of the tragedy, bringing the perpetrators to justice and paying the required compensation.

“The Foreign Minister emphasized that he insists on the delivery, according to the Chicago Convention, of flight recorders to Ukraine, with a subsequent decision of their decoding and research with the participation of countries whose citizens died as a result of the tragedy,” the statement reads.

The Iranian Foreign Minister noted that several people were already detained during the investigation of the disaster. He also stressed that Iran seeks to investigate the tragedy as soon as possible, to find out all its circumstances, to identify those responsible for what happened, and to hold them accountable.
