Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has legalized the gambling business. The relevant bill No. 2285-d was backed by 248 lawmakers in the second reading.
In particular, the bill was backed by 224 deputies from the Servant of the People Party, 18 deputies from Dovira Party, 4 MPs from “For the Future” Party and 2 non-faction deputies. Opposition Platform — For Life, the European Solidarity and Batkivshchyna Party did not support the bill. In turn, the Parliamentary Committee on Finance, Taxation and Customs Policy approved the bill and recommended the Verkhovna Rada to adopt it.
The law criminalizes the organization of gambling without a license. It is allowed to have halls with slot machines only in three-, four- or five stars’ hotels. The law also regulates activity of classic lotteries. At the same time, residents of the aggressor state are prohibited from having a gambling business in Ukraine.
