On April 20, 2020, Ukraine is taking over the Chairmanship of the OSCE Forum for Security Cooperation from Turkey, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said.

“Our State will be the first to chair the Forum online, taking into account the situation associated with the COVID-19 pandemic,” the Foreign Ministry said.

It is noted that Ukraine’s Chairmanship will focus the attention of the participating States on restoring full and faithful implementation of OSCE fundamental principles and norms of international law, the importance of further joint work on improving the political and military tools of the organization in light of new challenges and threats and rapid technological development in the military sphere.

“Priority issues for consideration at the plenary sessions will include modern challenges to regional and international security, primarily hybrid threats, militarization and impediment of navigation in the Azov and Black Sea region, and a number of other issues within the framework of the Forum’s mandate, in particular, light weapons and small arms, UN Security Council resolutions 1540 (nonproliferation of weapons of mass destruction) and 1325 (role of women in peace and security),” the diplomatic department emphasized.
