United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) will deliver an additional 780,000 doses of measles, mumps and rubella vaccine to Ukraine this year.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Health, this delivery would not require an additional allocation of funds from the state budget.

Vaccines will be purchased for the money, which were saved earlier, thanks to effective public procurement procedures through international organizations.

“Corresponding changes in the resolution ”On Some issues of procurement of medical immunobiological preparations for response to measles outbreaks in Ukraine”, initiated by the Ministry of Health, were approved at a government meeting. The document eliminates legal barriers and allows to purchase vaccine on savings,” the department said.

The Ministry of Health also added that the additional purchase of vaccines is associated with the unfavorable epidemiological situation of measles in Ukraine and the constant increase in the average monthly use of vaccines.

As The Journalist reported, the Accounts Chamber reported on mismanagement and lack of control in the Ministry of Health which led to a multitude violations.
