Ukraine will introduce mass testing on COVID-19

Deputy Minister of Health, Chief State Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine Viktor Liashko on air of the Right to Power program has said that Ukraine plans to introduce mass testing for COVID-19.

According to Liashko, EIA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) testing will be introduced, which shows the presence of immunity to the disease.

“I think there will be a mass testing of the population for antibodies in the near future,” the deputy minister said.

Ukraine become the fifth country in the world to use this method. However, such tests are only being tested at the present.

The Ministry of Health in the Coronavirus Info · Telegram Channel publishes statistics on the number of tests conducted for the second day in a row: according to the data as of morning of April 24, 77,750 tests were made since the beginning of the epidemic.

Taking into account the figure of the previous day, the number of tests increased by 5,456 over the day, which is a record value.

At the same time, the head of the Ministry of Health, Maksym Stepaniv, reported that 5,263 PCR tests were made as of April 23, compared with 5,283 tests a day earlier.

Based on previously released data, the number of PCR tests has grown to 30,660 over the past week, compared to 23,570 made a week earlier, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
