The Ukrainian armed forces conducted military maneuvers on the airborne defense of the coast of the Sea of Azov at a training ground near Mariupol, the Joint Forces Operation headquarters said.
The headquarters described the scenario of the war games: the first enemy detachment of ships was met by artillery gunners. With heavy fire opened from Msta-B howitzers and Giatsint self-propelled artillery howitzer, artillery crews destroyed enemy flagship and its guard ships.
The combined company of the marine corps took up defense along the coastal strip under the cover of armored personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles, and, using hand grenade launchers and small arms, forced the enemy landing forces to retreat back to the sea.
“When leaving the territorial waters of Ukraine, the enemy ships which survived the artillery shelling were caught up and destroyed by the Joint Forces ship-boat group . The group included Ukrainian Navy small armored artillery boats “Kremenchug” and “Lubny”, as well as two boats of the Maritime Guard of the Mariupol border detachment,” the JF headquarters said.
In addition, during the training, the Ukrainian military once again proved that the Joint Forces units are ready not only to rapidly respond to enemy attempts to land troops, but also to destroy it on the approaches to the shore.
