The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vadym Prystaiko turned to the American corporation Apple, recalling that the Crimea occupied by Russia is Ukrainian territory.
“Let me explain in your terms, Apple. Imagine that you’re crying out that your design and ideas, years of work and piece of your heart are stolen by your worst enemy, but then somebody ignorant doesn’t give a damn about your pain. That’s how it feels when you call Crimea a Russian land,” the Ukrainian Foreign Minister emphasized.
According to the Ukrainian diplomat, Apple should focus on the world of high technology and entertainment.
“Global politics is not your forte. Crimea is Ukraine,” Prystaiko emphasized.
Apple’s Weather application in Russia designates Crimea and Sevastopol as “Russian” territory.
At the same time, the Ukrainian Embassy in the USA urged the American corporation Apple to correct the designation of occupied Crimea.
“The Embassy of Ukraine in the USA urgently appealed to the leadership of the American company Apple to change the incorrect designation of Crimea as part of Russia in the company’s applications,” the statement said.
Ukrainian diplomats drew the attention of the State Department and other competent departments of the United States to the current situation.
