Ukrainian Parliament amended law on SBI

The Verkhovna Rada has adopted a law regarding the improvement of the activities of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI). The relevant decision was backed by 277 deputies (with the minimum required 226). It is reported by the SBI’s press service.

The law stipulates a complex of legal, organizational and personnel issues related to the full functioning of the State Bureau of Investigations. The documents specify qualification requirements for directors of territorial administrations, heads of divisions of the central office and heads of divisions of internal control of the SBI.

It is noted that Ukrainian citizens who has a law degree, work experience in the field of law for at least seven years (after graduating), work experience in senior positions for at least three years and are fluent in the state language can be the director of the territorial office of the SBI.

The law also establishes a list of bureau units that have the right to carry out operational investigative activities, types of special titles of the SBI, the procedure for financing and payroll, the text of the oath for officers.

The law comes into force on the day after its publication.

As The Journalist reported, the SBI of Khmelnitsky Oblast exposed the sale of official information from the SFS database.
