The counterintelligence bodies of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) have exposed seven specialists of the national defense industry complex of Ukraine on the illegal provision of repair services for the military equipment abroad.

This was reported by the press center of the SBU.

«The officers of the special services have established that the owner of the commercial and business structure outside Ukraine organized an illegal mechanism for servicing foreign aircraft. On behalf of his firm, he concluded an agreement with the air force’s officials of one of the African countries to carry out maintenance of military transport aircraft,» the message says.

According to the information, the businessman attracted current and former specialists of one of the domestic state-owned enterprises. To go abroad, they took leave at their own expense and arrived to the foreign country to perform illegal repair of aircraft without the appropriate permission of the State Export Control Service.

Thus, seven of the workers were detained by the SBU officers at the custom area of the Boryspil International Airport, after returning to Ukraine.

«During the inspection of their baggage and hand luggage, law enforcement officers discovered technical documentation for servicing aircraft and foreign contracts for the repair of military equipment, as well as invitations which helps them to receive visas, photos and videos taken during repair work at a foreign Air Force base, and money,» law enforcement officials said.

Currently, the question of declaring suspicion of committing a crime to the involved persons is being resolved. As part of the criminal proceedings, initiated by the SBU, investigators continues the pre-trial investigation under Part 1 of the Article 333 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, to bring to justice the other persons involved in the illegal activities.
