Ukrainians will be able to buy and sell foreign currency not only in banks and currency exchange offices of non-bank financial institutions, but also in post offices.

This was reported on the website of the National Bank of Ukraine with reference to Resolution No. 9, which comes into force on February 7, 2019, simultaneously with the introduction of the Law of Ukraine on Currency and Foreign Exchange Transactions.

It is noted that postal service operators will be able to obtain a license of the National Bank for foreign exchange operations if they have at least 50 structural units in the territory of at least 50% of the oblasts of Ukraine and receive at least 50% of income from activities in the provision of postal services.

In addition, it is required to comply with the requirements for financial status, ownership structure and business reputation.

Non-banking financial institutions and the national postal operator, who have regulator’s licenses, will have six months of a transition period starting from February 7 to bring their activities in line with the new requirements.

As The Journalist reported, the forecast for Ukraine’s GDP growth is 3.5% in 2019.
