After a virtual discussion held without a voting procedure, all 193 member states of the United Nations unanimously supported the resolution aimed at preventing speculation on the future COVID-19 vaccine, as well as ensuring the availability of medicines and protective means, Anadolu reports.

The resolution notes that the UN General Assembly calls on “all UN member states, as well as other parties involved, to take immediately measures to prevent possible speculation and unnecessary stockpiling within their legislation, which could interfere with universal access to effective and affordable medicines, vaccines, personal protective equipment, medical equipment necessary required under COVID-19 spread conditions.”

According to the resolution, the World Health Organization will play main role in combating the pandemic.
