The UN Security Council convenes an emergency meeting due to the escalation of the conflict in Libya, where Commander of the Libyan National Army Khalifa Haftar ordered his troops to launch an offensive on the capital, France24 reports.

The Commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Khalifa Haftar, ordered his troops to launch an attack on Tripoli controlled by the Government of National Accord. In this regard, Council will hold an emergency meeting. It is scheduled at 3 p.m. (7 p.m. GMT).

The governments of France, Italy, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the United States called on all parties to stop the military escalation in Libya.
